FAQS

Find clear answers to common questions about therapy, what to expect, and how we can work together in a way that feels safe and supportive

Therapy isn’t for everyone—but for many, it offers a vital space to feel heard, become unstuck, and begin making sense of life's challenges. The best way to find out if it’s right for you is to try an initial appointment. We’ll explore what brings you here, how I work, and whether the fit feels comfortable. Therapy isn’t about being judged or told what to do—it’s a space where your story matters, and where we work together to help you move forward.

It’s important to find the right therapist for you—someone you feel comfortable with, safe enough to open up to, and who you feel will offer what you need from therapy. I always advise trying more than one therapist if possible, and not feeling obligated to stay with the first person you see. Finding the right fit can make a significant difference in your therapeutic journey.

Yes, I am registered with several private healthcare providers, and other insurers may accept me as a recognised provider. Please contact me if you’d like to check eligibility—I’m happy to discuss what’s possible and support you in liaising with your insurer.

Yes. I offer consultation and therapeutic support for parents who are feeling overwhelmed, confused, or unsure how to respond to their child’s emotional or behavioural needs. Sometimes what’s seen as “attention-seeking” is really a child’s way of seeking safety or connection.

We can work together to understand what might be driving certain behaviours, and how to respond in a way that supports your child and strengthens your relationship.

I work with children and young people aged 11–18 using developmentally appropriate and creative therapeutic approaches. Depending on the needs of the young person, this may include talking therapy, play-based methods, art, or indirect ways of working.

We usually begin with an initial parent/carer assessment session to understand the broader picture. My goal is always to create a safe, trusting environment where young people feel supported to express themselves.

Yes, I offer both in-person and online therapy sessions. The choice depends on what feels most comfortable, accessible, and effective for each individual client.

In-Person Therapy
In-person sessions take place at my clinics in South Woodford or Barkingside. Many people value the dedicated therapeutic space, the sense of privacy and containment, and the opportunity for face-to-face connection. For some, the physical setting helps create a clearer boundary between therapy and everyday life, supporting emotional focus and regulation. In-person therapy can also be especially helpful for clients who find non-verbal communication or creative methods (e.g. art or play) important parts of the process.

Online Therapy
Online therapy offers flexibility and accessibility, particularly for those with busy schedules, limited mobility, or geographical constraints. It can reduce barriers to accessing support—especially for adolescents or adults who feel more comfortable opening up from a familiar environment. Research has shown that online therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy for many psychological concerns. I use Zoom which is a secure, confidential video platform, and I always ensure that clients feel safe and well-supported in the online space.

Whether online or in person, I work to create a consistent, attuned, and supportive relationship. In some cases, we might explore a blended and flexible model, with both online and in-person sessions, depending on clinical need and preference. If you’re unsure which format is best for you or your child, I’m happy to talk it through during an initial consultation.

Therapy is a (usually weekly) space to talk, reflect, and feel seen. It’s not about being told what to do—it’s about helping you access the strengths and answers already within you. It can help you rewrite your story in ways that feel more empowering.

Therapy may not change external events, but it can change how you understand them, how you respond, and how you relate to yourself and others. At its core, therapy is about connection—and the healing that can happen when you’re listened to without judgment.

Yes, I provide reflective practice, supervision, training and consultancy for organisations that support children, families, or mental health. Whether you’re seeking help embedding trauma-informed practices, improving staff wellbeing, or offering professional development, I can deliver tailored in-house or online sessions. Please contact me to explore your needs.

If you are self-funding, sessions are £110 and last for 50 minutes. Payment is due at least 24 hours before the session by bank transfer.

If you are accessing therapy through private health insurance, rates and payment processes may vary depending on your provider—I can guide you through the steps and liaise with your insurer if needed.

Cancellations require at least [insert your notice period] notice. Sessions cancelled with less notice or missed entirely are usually charged in full.

What you share in therapy is treated with the utmost respect and confidentiality. Sessions are private and what is discussed stays within the room. I do not share information with anyone else unless there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else—in such cases, I have a professional and legal obligation to act to keep people safe. If this ever became necessary, I would always aim to discuss it with you first whenever possible.

I do not provide psychological assessments, formal reports, or letters for the clients I work with, except in cases where private healthcare providers require brief documentation for funding purposes. In those instances, any letters are written collaboratively during session to ensure transparency and maintain your confidentiality.

You’re welcome to reach out by phone or email if you’d like to discuss anything before booking. No question is too small. Starting therapy can be a big decision—I’m happy to support you in making an informed one.
